Why meditate? For one thing, it can improve your health. By helping lower your stress levels, meditation enables you to overcome problems of high blood pressure, insomnia, indigestion, ulcers, and tension headaches, etc?.

Through meditation one can actually become free from anxiety and feelings of inner emptiness, and experience peace, fulfillment and real happiness. We teach an ancient form of Yoga Meditation known as Mantra Meditation, which consists of focusing the mind on transcendental or spiritual sounds known as Mantras.

The Mantras have a quietening, relaxing effect on the mind and bring about a feeling of happiness and satisfaction.

A basic class consists of:

1. An explanation of Mantras ? what they mean, how they affect us, and their benefits.

2. Deep breathing meditation with Mantras.. Learning how to meditate with beads.

3. Some Yoga stretches with meditation music playing in the background.

4. We introduce participants to Kirtan, or chanting, which is a meditation accompanied by softly playing musical instruments.

5. We finish with Yoga Nidra which is a deep relaxation accompanied by mellow meditation music.

After you have attended an introductory class you are welcome to attend any of our weekly meditation gatherings which we hold in different locations. We serve a delicious vegetarian meal at these gatherings. As has been the practice for many thousands of years, all of our classes and events are given free of charge. We give classes in the Greater Toronto Area. We have weekly classes Downtown, on the Danforth, and in Scarborough. Our classes last for one approximately one hour.
