The Slate Foundation

When people have options, animals survive extinction. The Slate Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that helps people help animals by teaching communities how to reduce the impact they have on endangered animals that share their ecosystem.

Optional food sources reduce the need to poach and trap. Operation Wildlife Comeback builds chicken and rabbit farms in the Congo, where single mothers are doing the largest amount of poaching and trapping gorillas for bush meat to feed their children. Adults are less likely to harm animals they fell in love with as children.

In Uganda, we sponsor field trips so children can see wild rhinos for the first time in their lives. Addressing root causes, creating working solutions, and education gives people options that allow them to leave endangered animals alone and can ensure "the children of tomorrow might know the animals of today!"
