Wost Man Ecology AB was started 1991 by Professor Mats Wolgast and Bo Magnusson. Their initials are reflected in our name. Prof Wolgast is a kidney expert and Bo Magnusson (deceased) had been working within the sanitary porcelain business.

The company was intended to exploit Prof Wolgast´s research about modern convenient indoor recycling toilets based on urine diversion. Practical experience had shown that traditional compost toilets do not work. Too much moisture and too many flies! No compost process takes place and you you get as waste a stinking mess that cannot be handled with a pitchfork, nor with a pump.

With urine diversion + an evacuation fan a dehydrating toilet is created. The urine (around 500 litres/person/year) gravitates to a tank where it can be stored for a year or so. The faeces (20-25 kilos dry matter) fall straight down into a plastic or metallic bin. Due to the evacuation fan a dehydrating toilet is completely free from odour even during the daily use. The urine is considered self disinfecting and can easily be pumped by a simple pump for transport to an agricultural field as fertilizer. It is an excellent allround fertilizer well suited for private gardens. The farces can be burned, composted, dug down or plowed under.
