Greenmuseum.org
Mission: greenmuseum.org, an online museum of environmental art, advances creative efforts to improve our relationship with the natural world.
One of the most exciting art movements of our time, environmental art celebrates our connection to nature through beauty, science, metaphor and ecological restoration.
It encompasses a surprising landscape of approaches from ephemeral ?art in nature? sculpture designed to last only a few hours before returning to the earth, to community-based ?eco-art? installations which clean up polluted watersheds and promote public understanding of local and global environmental issues.
Much of this art is large scale, site-specific or ephemeral, so it can be difficult for conventional museums and galleries to display effectively.
Greenmuseum.org was created in 2001 to catalyze new opportunities and inspire the creation of new environmental art to address the needs of our communities and ecosystems.
As an online institution, greenmuseum.org transcends geography, providing a focal point for this dispersed global art movement. The website provides an unprecedented forum for discussion, a Toolbox of practical resources, artist and exhibition information, event listings and ideas. Please visit us online to learn more and help us support the beginnings of a sustainable world culture.
