Artist S A Schimmel Gold upcycles junk mail, packaging, greeting cards, etc. transforming this into amazing, colorful fine art images on re-purposed canvas.

The artist created this technique while exploring ways to emulate Byzantine mosaic portraits without using glass, stone or precious metals. A life-long painter and rabid recycler, S A Schimmel Gold has found a new way to give her portraits and abstract images new life by re-purposing advertising ephemera and the like.

Although her style is not unlike Andy Warhol or other pop art forerunners, it is completely unique in her use of materials that would otherwise go to waste.Her work has been seen in museums and fine art festivals throughout the west.
