Paper to Pearls

Paper to Pearls is a non-profit that runs a micro-enterprise working with women in Ugandan refugee camps. The women create beautiful jewelry by hand-rolling beads from recycled paper.

Over 80% of the proceeds from the sale of the jewelry goes directly to the women in the form of income and additional training. The money they earn allows them to purchase food, medicines and schooling for their children.

Over the course of the project, our beading community has grown to include ~125 women in 9 different refugee camps. And our most recent evolution has included training and employing 'child mothers'--those girls who were abducted and held by the rebel army, who are now returning to the camps with children of their own.

The jewelry is gorgeous, with rich, vibrant colors and a variety of different styles to suit any personality. It not only looks good, but makes you feel good about wearing it - what could be better than that?!
