Seattle Architect, Coates Design Architects specializes in green building and sustainable design techniques. Located on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle, our Architecture practice has sustainable projects all over the country.

We have completed one of the first LEED Platinum residential design projects in Washington. Seattle Architects, Coates Design Inc. understands that the modern architect as a designer of buildings must be held accountable for the ensuing environmental, economic and social impacts that every project makes in our world environment.

The firm’s managing partner, Matthew Coates, achieved international acclaim by winning the “Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Home” Design Competition in 2005 and used this momentum to create a firm dedicated to gracious, deep green sustainable design. Team members, with backgrounds in design, construction and the fine arts, transform complex design challenges into elegant solutions.

Matthew Coates carries a personal passion for projects that contribute a “greater good” to our local and international communities. He actively pursues work that allows the firm to create responsible and innovative contributions to architecture.
