HELLENIC SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF NATURE

The Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN) is the non government organization in Greece. This non-profit society was founded in 1951. We were at pains in the creation of most Greek National Parks, wetlands and other protected areas.

HSPN also plays a role in protecting endangered species.

Today, we are active along:

* Environmental Education
* Nature protection programmes
* Environmental intervention
* General Public awareness

We carry on our mission with lots of help from volunteers, grants from institutions and companies and, for certain nature-protection programmes, on governmental and European funding.

HSPN represents in Greece the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and the Centre Naturopa of the Council of Europe. It is also a member of important international conservation organisations, e.g. IUCN, EEB, ECNC, EUCC and works with the Greek environmental organisations and public authorities.
