European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law (IMPEL)
The European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law (IMPEL) is an informal Network of the environmental authorities of the Member States and candidate countries of the European Union.
The European Commission is a member of IMPEL and shares the chairmanship of meetings.
IMPEL work focuses on projects in the fields of:
* training and exchange programmes for inspectors,
* developing best practice for various aspects of inspections,
* application of industrial pollution control legislation,
* transfrontier shipments of waste,
* implementation of the EU emission trading scheme,
* ?Better Legislation? issues and an advisory role for the design of new Community legislation.
