Global Eco - Spiritual Tours
Volunteer for an Eco - Spiritual Tour in the heart of the Himalayan Mountains in Leh-Ladakh, just next to Tibet. A charitable contribution you participate in as you travel, tour members will spend 12 days in the environmental landscape and ancient culture of northern India.
The combination of a strikingly beautiful, yet fragile ecology and the mystical rich heritage of the Buddhist culture provides the ideal setting for combining eco-tourism and spiritual discovery.
Tour activities include planting sapling trees, bottling spring water, donating solar panels, visiting monasteries, interacting with monks and lamas, making sand mandalas with monks, attending Buddhist meditation technique seminar, attending cultural events, a river raft ride down the Indus River and a 3-day trek through the Himalayan Mountains.
Our project location is in the Himalayan Mountains, where volunteers should expect to work at high elevations. Volunteers must be in good physical condition and be capable of walking or hiking one to five miles per day; volunteers must provide a signed medical statement from a doctor indicating that they are fit for the program.
"Responsible teenagers" and older people may volunteer, with no maximum age limit. Volunteers with non-ambulatory disabilities may volunteer. Though Global Eco mostly attracts independent volunteers, families are also welcome.
Global Eco-Spiritual Tours is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization that donates proceeds from the tour to local schools in our tour area through our member donations since 2001.
