Carpe Diem Travel Limited
Carpe Diem Travel is a new kind of travel company - created from the outset as a social enterprise, to provide local people with much-needed employment and opportunities for development. Carpe Diem Travel actively works with local people on the ground, providing training and fair salaries, financial and educational support and enabling culturally-aware development projects amongst indigenous peoples.
The company was formed in 2001 by an English/Dutch couple who met while working voluntarily for local organisations. Both were taking year-long breaks from their high-flying corporate careers to travel the world. They decided to stay on in Cambodia to ?do something useful? and became captivated by the country and the warmth and sincerity of its people.
In addition to small group scheduled departure journeys in Cambodia and Laos, Carpe Diem Travel specialises in ?special interest? trips ? providing customised tours covering subjects such as art, history, nature, social welfare and photography.
Group journeys include visits to some of the local development projects, working to help the poorest people in the community. Carpe Diem Travel?s support has provided homes, education and livelihoods to those most in need. Materials, as well as finances, have been provided for a number of local projects.
Carpe Diem Travel has sponsored a number of young local people throughout their university careers, and provided them with emotional and professional support. Financial assistance and interest-free loans have been provided to individuals who show initiative and a willingness to work hard.
Self-administration of projects and funds ensures that 100% of their support goes directly to the people who need it. By travelling with Carpe Diem Travel, your destination benefits directly from your holiday.
