The traditional shape of a coffin hasn't changed for hundreds of years, it was the most economical shape to put planks around a body. Then of course wood was used which did no harm to the earth. Now chipboard is used for 89% coffins which contain many toxic materials, 7000.000 get either burnt or buried every year causing massive pollution.

Hazel Selina manufactures the Ecopod as an alternitive, a bio-degradable, eco-friendly coffin made from papier mache using recycled newspaper. The Ecopod is a breakaway from the traditional coffin in shape and material. The colourful Ecopod is manufactured in Brighton and is supplied in two sizes.

All materails used to make the Ecopod are sourced from ethical companies. Suitable for burial or cremation ( athough we do advise people that cremation is a very polluting option creating 20% of all carceneogenic emmissions in the atmosphere ).
