The food we buy and the foods we eat reflect our understanding of the environment and sustainable living. Organic foods lead this list of companies servicing the public with certified organic foods. “Pizza Fusion” is on the list and it even has LEED certified buildings. Organic foods come from as far away as China and South Africa.
The “vegan” listings are mostly in the United States. “Green Weddings and Events” is one of the first eco-friendly event planners from southern California. The “vegetarian” subcategory includes holistic centers with vegetarian restaurants. Eco Caters specializes in eco-friendly events of all types, including weddings, private parties, corporate functions and organic school lunches. They buy produce from farms where fair trade practices are used.
Eco foods include beverages such as coffee, tea, and water. There is even an organic beer from Belgium. “Oxford Ethical Trading” sells an exclusive range of fair trade and organic certified tea, coffee and chocolate. The coffee comes from Peru, Ethiopia, Colombia, India, Sumatra and Honduras. They sell their products online.
Fruits and vegetables features companies selling purees, pulps, and concentrates from organically grown fruits. Diet supplements include companies selling food supplements for the whole family. There is a liquid supplement derived from organic aloe vera, nine sea vegetations, natural cherry and honey. Shaklee products have been around for 50 years. The company was the first in the world to be certified climate neutral, which means they operate with a net zero impact on earth. Shaklee was selected by Jacques Cousteau to provide environmentally friendly cleaning products on his ships.
If you buy locally grown foods, including eggs and chicken and turkey, you are exercising your vote for sustainable living. Education is a process. Choose only organic and environmentally friendly products. |
