Gecko Villa

Gecko Villa was established with a grant as a sustainable tourism project, was constructed entirely with local labour, and all proceeds from its operation are retained within the local community.

Part of the proceeds are used to maintain and enhance local eco-systems, through reforestation and waste control programmes. We have to date acquired a plot of approximately 20 rai (8 acres or 3.2 hectares) of existing woodlands, home to numerous species of wildlife, that was originally slated for conversion into land for cash crops. We have acquired an additional 20 rai of land and planted it with a variety of trees. This woodland protection and tree planting is funded with proceeds from our guests' stays at the property.

Gecko Villa is located among the rice paddies and woodlands of Northeast Thailand, in the heart of the region known as" Isaan".
The spacious property is fully furnished and serviced, and has a private swimming pool (treated with salt rather than chlorine). Airport transfers (from Udon Thani airport) are provided free of charge, and freshly prepared Thai meals are prepared daily for you, by your persoanl chef, predominantly using the organic ingredients grown in our own orchards and herb gardens.

We are also proud that through the experience of helping to operate Gecko Villa, a number of villagers can now afford better schooling for their children, whilst others have secured employment in international hotel groups.

Waste is recycled wherever possible, and we encourage the use of traditional environmentally friendly practices, such as the use of biodegradable and replenishable banana leaf packaging over plastic.
